“Ponce de Leon’s Migrations series is a grouping of acrylic-on-canvas pieces combined with other mixed mediums. The paintings depict planes, birds and whales in transit, while travel markers — maps, airline ticket stubs and baggage claim tags — are revealed beneath the paint’s surface. Ponce de Leon compares human travel to the seasonal travel of animals, highlighting various needs of such ‘migrations.’”
